It is always an honor and a great responsibility when I do a painting of someone's dad who flew in WWII. That generation is passing on and what they did long ago in places far away is remembered in a painting that shows the actual aircraft that they flew. Using a variety of resource material, I am able to show the real colors, tail numbers, squadron codes and nose art. Usually I am given a black and white photo of a pilot standing by the nose of his aircraft and his unit. With just this information I can bring the past to life. - Russ Brown
